Transforming lives and landscapes by investing in progress.
The Africa Tea Industry Progress (ATIP) Foundation contributes to high-impact initiatives that advance and reward sustainable farming for the benefit of Africa’s tea industry and the people who depend on it. We are funded by the proceeds of a landmark transaction in 2024 between LIPTON Teas and Infusions and Browns Investments. Driven by a shared vision of creating value for all, we support efforts that benefit tea farmers and farm workers, as well as the environment on which everyone relies.
A thriving tea industry for Africa built on sustainable practices, empowered people, and equitable progress for all.
To drive progress by funding programmes that deliver a positive impact for people and the planet.
Supporting vocational training and advanced academic learning to improve practices in tea cultivation, harvesting and processing, as well as farm income diversification and general business skills.
Stimulating the development of farming methods with a lower environmental impact, especially around fertiliser use, to accelerate the industry’s net zero journey without increasing the burden on farmers.
Contributing to schemes that recognise and reward farmers for meeting higher quality, social and environmental standards, encouraging a shift away from the current focus on production volumes.
Our Board Directors are volunteers whose work is unpaid other than to cover reasonable expenses.
